The Hanson Center currently facilitates three groups for faculty and staff:

  • Inclusive STEM Reading Group: This book discussion group is designed for faculty and staff interested in exploring and enhancing inclusive teaching and advising practices and curriculum. We also select readings that deepen our understanding of inclusive STEM studies. Join us to develop new knowledge and insights about inclusive STEM education that will help you contribute to fostering a culture of inclusive excellence.
  • Lafayette Allies for Gender Equity Reading (LAGE) Group: Lafayette Allies for Gender Equity (LAGE) is one of the reading groups supported by the Hanson Center. LAGE is a learning community for male and non-binary members of the faculty, seeking to build capacity as allies and advocates for gender equity. Since its initial meeting in the fall of 2017, each year’s group is made up of new members, intentionally welcoming individuals who have not previously been involved. A given year’s membership of seven to nine new attendees meets about once a month at lunchtime to discuss readings and explore allyship. The coordinators for 2025-26 are Chris Ruebeck and Andrew Clarke.
  • Minerva
The Hanson Center provides support for Minerva, a community of women and nonbinary faculty and instructional staff in STEM. Through discussions, panel presentations, and workshops we help facilitate the work of Minerva.
